The big problem we have in our country today – it comes from lifestyle – is obesity. You know obesity has recently been declared an official disease? In the United States we have over 35% of our population that is obese and that is defined as being about 30 pounds overweight.
The body was not designed to be overweight. I can tell you that if you want to take your health seriously, you do need to do something about that. You probably need to put the soda down and you probably need to find a way to get your heart pumping a little more regularly to balance your physiology and get your metabolism and your insulin working again.
Insulin is another powerful hormone that regulates how and when you store energy as fat. One of the benefits that getting your testosterone level optimized is that your body will begin to build better insulin receptors over time which helps with insulin resistance. This is so important to so many people in our culture today, but they are not being told about how all of this correlates and fits together; and there is medical literature supports this viewpoint. Many of the physicians I work with today have patients that are suffering with type 2 diabetes, and over a relatively short periods of time, after optimizing a patients testosterone levels (as well as balancing other hormones) they are seeing that they can truly help some of these patients back off of some of their type 2 diabetes medications. Patients are actually getting off of their drugs and they are feeling better. The possibility of actually being healed and no longer being type 2 diabetic is real, but I am here to tell you that you need to find a physician that knows what they are doing.
You have to make a decision. Do you want to get treated for the disease for the rest of your life and still be a diabetic or do you want to heal the diabetic condition and no longer be a diabetic? I am here to tell you that it is a possibility to actually heal diabetes. You are probably not going to hear that from your average physician!
Lifestyle is really about what we are eating, what kind of exercise we are getting and if we are getting adequate sleep. If we are not sleeping well at night, the tendency for you to gain weight is very high because sleep is directly related to metabolism and abnormal weight gain.
There are plenty of resources out there to educate you and to make you aware of what you could be doing; start with baby steps. Success in health is really about the progressive realization of a worthwhile goal. If your goal is to be healthy, then start taking steps to move you into the direction of health.
Don’t let another day go by where you are not going to do anything different. It has been said that the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again, expecting a different result. Unfortunately, in our culture, most people are expecting medical companies to develop a pill that will magically cure their lifestyle imbalances. We have to face the facts… your health condition is the result of the choices you have been making probably for decades.
You can either look at that evidence and say that’s not going to be me, or you are going to hope and pray that some smart physician or medical researcher somewhere is going to invent a pill so you don’t have to change your lifestyle. You have to decide what you think is reasonable and probable for an outcome.
It’s so important to have your health, for you and for your family! There’s so much more coming in upcoming articles about how to improve your health! See you soon!
